technical information for armored and
unarmored, pcv and XLPE insulated power
cables rated 600/1000 volts are provided
conforming specifically to ies 60502-1, bs
6346 and bs 5476. however, additional
technical information for other cable
designs (national, international or customer
specifications) can be provided upon
request.
conductors:
the current carrying component of the cable.
the conductors in JNC cables are high
conductivity copper or high purity Aluminum
that complies with the requirements of iec
60228 and BS 6360, conductors flexibility
degrees are discribed as follows
* class1 (Solid conductor)
*class2 (Stranded conductor)
*class5(flexible conductor)
*class6(more flexibale conductor)
solid conductrs are preferrd for small
sizes, whereas the stranded conductors
should have a space factor, which together
with chosen conductor section, results in
good utilization of the cross sectional area
of the cable. Accordingly, where possible,
compacted circular conductor, or compacted
sector-shaped conductors are used.
Insulation:
Cables are insulation either with PVC
(Polyvinyl Chloride) or XLPE (Cross linked
Polyethylene).
PVC Insulation:
PVC Insulation as per BS 7655 & IEC 60502-1
is a clean, easy to handle material with
good electrical characteristics and
resistance to water, oils and chemicals,
together with inherent toughness and
flexibility over a wide temperature range.
PVC cables are easy to handle joints,
terminations and have an outstanding record
of trouble free service.
XLPE Insulation:
Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) type GP8 as
per BS 7655 and IEC 60502-1 requirements.
XLPE matches many of the attributed of PVC,
but at high temperature the toughness and
physical properties are improved. Also, XLPE
includes an enhanced resistance to
deformation.
The continues current rating of XLPE
insulated cables are based upon a maximum
conductor temperature of 90C compared with
70C for PVC insulated Types.
Short circuit ratings are also higher, XLPE
accepting 250C as a final conductor
temperature at the end of short circuit
compared with 160C for PVC insulated cables.
As a result, in situations where conductor
size is governed by current rating rather
than voltage drop, it may be possible to use
a smaller XLPE insulated conductor size.

INTRODUCTION
This over-head conductors catalogue includes
all technical information aboutover-head
conductors up to 380 kV, with Copper,
Aluminum or ACSR (bare conductors), used in
long distance Power Transmission and
connections between cities. The size range
of these conductors starts from 10mm2 up to
1000 mm2.
The Major Types Are:
AAC
1. General:
These Conductors are formed using several
Electrical Conductors Grade Aluminum Wires
having the same nominal diameter and
stranded in concentric layers.
2. Properities:
Compared to Copper, these conductors have a
great economical advantage on the low
voltage overhead lines.
3. Application:
Low Voltage Lines.
Linking bridges between the dead-end clamps
and the high voltage lines installed with
aluminum conductors steel-reinforced.
High Voltage bus bars at the sub-stations.
4. AAC Conductors can be supplied,
conforming to the following standards:
ASTM B231
BS 215 - Part 1
DIN 48201 |
